Paphos International Airport (PFO) · arrivals handover

Car hire at Paphos Airport (PFO) handed over in the arrivals hall against your flight number

Car Hire Paphos keeps no desk in the Paphos Airport (PFO) terminal: we meet your flight in the arrivals hall with the car. On our card read 26 August 2026, economy is 65 EUR for one day and from 35 EUR a day over 7 to 9 days; the optional waiver is 15 EUR a day with a 300 EUR excess, and nothing is paid before pick-up.

Request a car for your PFO landing

A request, not a bookingNothing is held until we confirm. You pay at pick-up, never on this form.

This form sends a request to our Paphos office. It does not hold a car: nothing is set aside until we confirm.

Choose a pick-up at least 8 hours after you press send. Replies go out from 08:00 to 23:00, Cyprus time. Deposit of €300, taken at pick-up. No prepayment.

  • No prepayment. The hire is settled when you collect, in cash or by card, and the refundable 300 EUR deposit is taken at that same moment.

  • Requests in before 20:00, Cyprus time, get an answer that evening. We write back between 08:00 and 23:00, so anything later waits for the next morning.

The airport numbers in one list

  • Fee window 09:00 to 17:30 Cyprus time. It prices a handover; it is not opening hours
  • Pick-up inside that window: 20 EUR under five days, nothing from five days
  • Outside the window: 30 EUR at the airport, for each end of the hire
  • Name a pick-up time at least 8 hours after you send the request
  • 300 EUR deposit on every hire, handed back when the car returns
  • Every car is automatic; a second driver and a baby seat cost nothing
  • Under five days, 200 km a day included; from five days, no limit

No rental desk of ours in the terminal: who has one, and what we do instead

Yes, you can rent a car inside the Paphos Airport terminal, from the companies that keep desks there. We are not one of them: we meet your flight in the arrivals hall, with the car.

The airport operator lists Avis and Budget (one shared desk number, +357 26 007318), Hertz, Europcar, SIXT and Petsas, located "in the Arrivals, after exiting the Baggage Reclaim area". Its page, Hermes Airports' car rental list, shows no last-updated date and no opening hours.

Sources disagree on the desk count, so we give no total. The operator lists five with a Pafos number, plus Astra with only a Nicosia line; AutoEurope tables four with hours, TravelSupermarket names seven (adding Astra) and Kayak says "10 companies located inside the terminal". Every operator except Astra shows a Larnaca and a Pafos pair. All checked 13 August 2026.

Desk hours, as the desks and brokers publish them

A flight landing at 23:00 finds a different set of counters open from one landing at 13:00. None of these hours come from the airport, and the sources do not always agree.

Checked 13 August 2026 on the desks' and brokers' own pages. Hours change, so confirm with your supplier before you fly.

Where a terminal desk does better
  • You can walk up with nothing arranged.
  • Two desks publish 24-hour opening.
  • You can buy a one-way drop at another Cypriot airport.
  • A national brand may bundle in a damage waiver.
Where our handover does better
  • No counter queue, no shuttle to a yard.
  • Excess and waiver price published before you book.
  • Nothing paid until you collect.
  • Handover arranged around your flight number.

Kayak names Auto Union and Green Motion as also meeting flights at PFO (13 August 2026); ours has no shuttle and no off-site yard. Nor do we staff a terminal counter. We publish a reply window (08:00 to 23:00, Cyprus time) and office hours (08:00 to 19:00 on weekdays and 09:00 to 16:00 at weekends, at our Paphos office, not the airport).

Aircraft door to driver's seat: the PFO handover step by step

The handover happens in the arrivals hall once you are through baggage reclaim, arranged around the flight number you send us.

  1. 01.Put the flight number and a car class in the request, and send it at least 8 hours before pick-up; nothing is held until we confirm.
  2. 02.Watch for our answer. Anything in before 20:00 Cyprus time is answered that evening; we reply only between 08:00 and 23:00, so a later message waits for the morning.
  3. 03.Land. AutoEurope and TravelSupermarket describe Paphos Airport as a single terminal building (13 August 2026), so there is one arrivals hall to find.
  4. 04.Collect your bags. As you enter the arrivals lobby the rental desks are on your left (per Sixt and Kayak, 13 August 2026); walk past them to the person meeting you.
  5. 05.At the car, show your original driving licence, held for two years or more (a photocopy will not do), and leave the 300 EUR deposit by card or in cash. You pay for the hire at this point.
  6. 06.Walk round the car with us and note the fuel gauge before you set off; it leaves full and should come back full.

The airport operator's own car-rental page puts the desks "in the Arrivals, after exiting the Baggage Reclaim area": see Hermes Airports, car rentals.

No shuttle bus is involved, and there is no off-site yard to reach.

For comparison, the airport taxi fare is fixed by Κ.Δ.Π. 79/2021 (in force since 1 March 2021, published by Hermes Airports and the tourism authority), not metered: 20 EUR by day and 25 EUR by night to Kato Paphos (Area 1), 60 EUR and 70 EUR to Limassol.

Six arrival-day mistakes that cost money at Paphos Airport

On an airport hire, most of the extra money comes from the clock and the return point, not from the day rate.

  1. 01.Landing outside the fee windowAt the airport, a pick-up or drop-off outside 09:00 to 17:30 Cyprus time costs 30 EUR, early-morning returns for a departure included. It is charged per end, so a late landing plus a dawn return adds 60 EUR. The day rate never changes with the hour or the weekday.
  2. 02.A four-day hire, collected in daytimeUnder five days, the airport pick-up inside the window is 20 EUR; from five days it is free, and the drop-off inside the window is free at any length. Four days in the Nissan March are 4 × 40 = 160 EUR, plus 20, so 180 EUR. Five are 5 × 40 = 200 EUR, with no pick-up fee and unlimited mileage.
  3. 03.Sending the request from the gateThe pick-up you name must be at least 8 hours after the request goes out, Cyprus time. Send after 20:00 and the answer comes the next morning, possibly after you land.
  4. 04.Treating the deposit as the excessThe 300 EUR deposit is held on every hire and returned. The 300 EUR excess is what you pay towards damage when the waiver is in place. Only the figure is shared.
  5. 05.Planning to leave the car at LarnacaWe run no one-way hires, so a car from here goes back to a Paphos point; a wrong-location return is charged from 300 EUR. For a Larnaca-based trip, hire from us there and we bring the car to your address, and the airport handover on this page is a Paphos Airport service. PFO out and Larnaca back needs a company that sells one-ways.
  6. 06.Returning on the way to a flightFill up first, since the car goes back full or a refuelling fee is added to the fuel, and leave time: a late return is 100 EUR plus 20 EUR for each hour started. Heading across the Green Line? Ask us before you go: the north takes our go-ahead in advance, its own insurance and the matching paperwork, and crossing without our approval is excluded under our terms.

Paphos Airport car hire rates by class, for one day and for a week

For cheap car hire at Paphos Airport, the budget end is the Nissan March and the Mitsubishi Mirage: 65 EUR for one day, with the March at 35 EUR a day across 7 to 9 days. The waiver adds 15 EUR a day and sets the excess at 300 EUR. Rates come from our own card, read 26 August 2026.

"From" daily rates, the floor of each class, from our own card read 26 August 2026. The whole length of the hire sets the band. Waiver not included.

How every figure in this table is read and dated: our price-checking method.

Against an aggregator's headline

Kayak's Paphos Airport data, checked 13 August 2026, names the Nissan March "or similar" as the most popular small car, at about £18 a day, against our 65 EUR for one day and 35 EUR a day over a week. We leave the currencies unconverted. Their headline is lower, but it is an average across suppliers, and Kayak says the excess is quoted on the booking confirmation rather than in that figure; ours is 300 EUR with the waiver.

Seven days in the Nissan March, collected in the daytime, come to 7 × 35 = 245 EUR; the waiver at 7 × 15 = 105 EUR makes 350 EUR. Past the five-day line, the pick-up inside the window is free and mileage is unlimited. The 300 EUR deposit is held and returned.

Land at 23:30 and hand back at 06:00 that same week, and both ends fall outside 09:00 to 17:30: add 30 + 30 = 60 EUR, day rate unchanged. A main driver aged 22 adds 15 % of the rental line, and 15 % of 245 is 36.75 EUR.

300 EUR deposit, 300 EUR excess: two different numbers

With the waiver taken, the excess is the most you contribute to a repair: 300 EUR on eligible bodywork. The deposit is separate: money we hold when you collect, on every hire, and give back when the car comes home, damaged or not.

Searching for car hire at Paphos Airport with no deposit? This is not that. 300 EUR on every car, left with us when you collect (card or cash) and paid back when you return it. A card needs to accept a pre-authorisation; the brand does not matter, and Revolut qualifies, "subject to approval, vehicle category and rental conditions". The hire itself is never prepaid.

The Collision Damage Waiver is optional, 15 EUR a day, cars only. With it, the excess on eligible bodywork is 300 EUR. It does not reach beneath or inside the car (the underbody, the interior), tyres and glass, lost keys, or harm done while driving off-road.

Two rivals do better here. One broker on this search includes excess protection in every quote (Zest, observed 2026-08-03), and an in-terminal brand bundles a damage waiver (Sixt, 13 August 2026, no excess figure published). If a zero-excess product is what you want, we are not it.

Elsewhere, AutoEurope says collection generally wants a credit card in the main driver's name, and Kayak that your credit limit must cover the excess on the confirmation (both 13 August 2026). TravelSupermarket says many desks refuse debit cards even on a pre-booked hire (3 August 2026). We apply only the pre-authorisation rule above.

Free, charged, or capped: the airport-specific extras

What an airport hire includes, what costs extra, and where five days changes the bill. The complete terms are on the town page.

At five days the airport pick-up fee drops away and the mileage cap lifts. Below five days, the unlimited-mileage option is never pre-selected; nothing is added unless you pick it.

Flying out the same day? Leave room: past the agreed time the charge is 100 EUR plus 20 EUR for every hour begun, and an airport drop-off before 09:00 or after 17:30 adds 30 EUR.

For the full rental terms, see our Paphos car hire page.

  • Third-party liability
  • 24/7 roadside assistance

  • A second driver, at any length
  • A baby seat on request, at any length
  • Unlimited mileage from five days
  • Airport pick-up inside 09:00 to 17:30 on a hire of five days or more

  • Airport pick-up inside the window, under five days: 20 EUR
  • Any airport handover outside the window: 30 EUR per end
  • Unlimited mileage under five days: 20 EUR a day (otherwise 200 km a day included)

  • Late return: 100 EUR, then 20 EUR for each hour started
  • Return to the wrong location: from 300 EUR

Driver age, licence and the paperwork for a PFO pick-up

You need to be at least 21, to have held your licence for two years, and to bring the original licence to the car.

Minimum age 21

No car is handed over to a younger driver.

Licence held 2 years

Bring the original card; a photocopy is not accepted.

Young driver surcharge

Under 24: +15 % of the rental line on the March, Mirage, Note, Note e-Power, Vitz and Fit; X-Trail under 29: +10 %; Sienta and Serena: none (settings read 19 September 2026).

Senior driver bands

+15 % at 74 to 75, +30 % at 76 to 90, refused over 90, by age on the pick-up date; the oldest named driver sets the band.

Deposit at pick-up

300 EUR, by card or in cash, returned at the end of the hire.

In the terminal, one brand publishes a minimum of 21 with an underage fee (Sixt, 13 August 2026); a comparison site states 21 with a licence held three years plus an under-25 surcharge (TravelSupermarket, 3 August 2026). We ask for two years, and our surcharges apply to the rental line alone, never to the waiver, the extras or a handover fee.

A licence issued in an EU or EEA country is recognised across the EU, as set out (checked 29 September 2026) on the EU's Your Europe page on licence recognition.

For a licence issued outside the EU, the same page leaves recognition to each member state and notes that the EU does not regulate international permits, so a permit can be refused. Ask us before you book.

Booking weeks ahead versus on the day: what the numbers show

Book ahead. Kayak's own data puts a small car at Paphos Airport at about £10 a day in January, the main UK booking month, against a yearly average of about £18 (checked 13 August 2026), and with us an early request costs nothing, because no money changes hands before pick-up.

UK searches for car hire at this airport sit at 5,400 a month in both January and August and drop to 1,600 in December, so January is a planning month. A search curve shows when people look and says nothing about what a car costs.

On price, Kayak's yearly average for a small car at Paphos Airport is about £18 a day, and its January figure about £10, roughly 45 % below that average. The same page advises booking about 78 days ahead and also at least 6 days ahead, and names February (about £9 a day) the cheapest month, so no single automated figure settles it.

Is it cheaper to hire a car online or at the airport, and in advance or on arrival? A prepaid online rate is money committed before you have seen the car. A request to us is free, with nothing charged until you collect; the one firm limit is the 8-hour lead time. The landing hour and weekday move only the handover fee, never our day rate.

TravelSupermarket's own table, observed 3 August 2026, priced Paphos Airport below Paphos town in every class. That is a comparison site's figure about its own suppliers, not a rule.

Sources: DataForSEO, United Kingdom monthly searches, pulled 13 August 2026; Kayak's Paphos Airport page, checked 13 August 2026; TravelSupermarket's airport and town tables, observed 3 August 2026.

TravelSupermarket's "Save up to £129" is defined in its own footnote as the gap between the lowest and the next-lowest price one search returned (13 August 2026). It is not a saving against any particular supplier.

The same site says its prices "update every two hours" and "may have changed when you click through".

A broker does sell a PFO one-way to Larnaca or Limassol, noting that "some may apply a mandatory local fee" (Zest, 3 August 2026). We do not.

The cars in this grid belong to us, so nobody takes a cut of your hire: we pay no broker, carry no affiliate link and hand no part of the booking to anyone else.

With us, money moves once, at pick-up: the hire in cash or by card, plus the 300 EUR deposit.

Paphos Airport car hire: questions

Eleven answers about fees, timing and the handover, with the figures from our own card.

Yes, from the companies with desks there: the airport operator lists Avis and Budget, Hertz, Europcar, SIXT and Petsas, in arrivals after baggage reclaim. Car Hire Paphos is not one of them. We meet your flight in the arrivals hall instead, arranged around the flight number in your request, with no shuttle, no off-site yard and nothing paid until you collect.

30 EUR. The airport fee window runs from 09:00 to 17:30, Cyprus time, and a handover outside it costs 30 EUR at each end, so a late landing and an early-morning return add 60 EUR. Inside the window, a pick-up is 20 EUR under five days and free from five days. The day rate does not change with the hour.

A Nissan March for seven days, collected inside 09:00 to 17:30, is 7 × 35 = 245 EUR. With the waiver at 15 EUR a day (105 EUR) the total is 350 EUR. There is no airport pick-up fee on a hire of five days or more, and mileage is unlimited. A 300 EUR deposit is also held at pick-up and returned when the car comes back.

The pick-up time you name must be at least 8 hours after you send the request. Our replies go out from 08:00 until 23:00 Cyprus time: send before 20:00 for an answer the same evening, or expect it the next morning. Nothing is held until we confirm, so leaving it to the last hours is a risk.

No. The deposit is 300 EUR held at pick-up, by card or in cash, on every hire, and handed back when the car returns. The excess is the most you pay towards damage to eligible bodywork once you have bought the 15 EUR a day waiver, and it is also 300 EUR. One is always refunded; the other applies only if something is damaged.

No. We do not run one-way hires, so a car collected at Paphos Airport goes back to a Paphos point, and a return anywhere else is charged from 300 EUR. If your stay is based in Larnaca, you can hire from us there and we bring the car to an address you give. The airport handover described on this page is a Paphos Airport service.

Yes, below five days. A hire of one to four days includes 200 km a day, or you can choose unlimited mileage for 20 EUR a day; that option is never pre-selected, so nothing is added unless you pick it. From five days, mileage is unlimited and included in the rate, together with a free airport pick-up inside 09:00 to 17:30.

15 % of the rental line on the Nissan March, Mitsubishi Mirage, Nissan Note, Note e-Power, Toyota Vitz and Honda Fit. The Nissan X-Trail carries +10 % for drivers under 29, and the Sienta and Serena carry none. On a 245 EUR economy week that is 36.75 EUR. The surcharge never touches the waiver, the extras or a handover fee. The minimum age is 21.

Two, on the pages we checked on 13 August 2026: Europcar, with three sources agreeing, and Hertz, with two. SIXT published 08:00 to 21:00 every day, Avis and Budget close after midnight on most nights, and Petsas published nothing. The desks and brokers, not the airport, publish these hours, so check your supplier's page before you fly.

On one aggregator's own figures, booking ahead pays: Kayak puts a small car at Paphos Airport at about £10 a day in January against a yearly average of about £18 (checked 13 August 2026). Its prepaid rates are lower than our 65 EUR one-day rate. With us nothing is paid before pick-up, so an early request costs nothing; it must name a pick-up at least 8 hours ahead.

No. Sending a request is free and no prepayment is taken. You pay for the hire when you collect the car, in cash or by card, and the 300 EUR deposit is taken at the same time and refunded at return. Until that moment your card is not touched, and no car is held for you until we confirm.

Send the flight number, and we take it from there
